Radio Directory
SHOUTcast and Icecast are listed on their own Internet Radio Directory. Because the SHOUTcast directory is more popular,
this gives you excellent exposure and will likely lead to getting more listeners than you would do on an Icecast directory.
However if you do not depend from the directories to get your listeners, then you can go with either one SHOUTcast or Icecast.
Both Shoutcast v2 and Icecast has mount points meaning and automatically transfers listeners from the Auto DJ
to the Live stream and back again without needing to manually turn anything on or off. So you connect and all
the listeners are transferred from the auto DJ to the live stream and then back again when you are finished.
What is the difference between Shoutcast and Icecast?
There are two main options for running a radio server with us and these are using an Icecast server or a Shoutcast server.
Firstly it’s worth mentioning that both server types are very similar in what they do but there are some subtle differences you might want to be aware of when choosing your server type.

Here are several differences when it comes to broadcasting between ShoutCast 1 and ShoutCast 2
2. With shoutcast-V1-V2 1 there were 2 broadcasting modes - live and AutoDJ. If you didn t want to use
AutoDJ at all you could just broadcast live and if you wanted to use AutoDJ you would have to
disable it when you wanted to broadcast live and then re-enable it when you stopped
broadcasting live.
